Acting Director General of Immigration, Saffar M. Godam, confirmed that the Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is fully operational and ready to provide optimal public service.

“We conducted unannounced inspections (sidak) at 12 immigration offices today. Alhamdulillah, services are running smoothly, with all officers and facilities in place,” said Godam in an official statement from Jakarta.

In addition to passport services, applications for visas and residence permits have also resumed. On Tuesday alone, 12,770 applications for visas and residence permits were processed.

During the public holiday period from March 28 to April 7, a total of 217,695 visa applications were submitted through Indonesia’s online system.

“We ensured that all applications submitted during the holiday period were processed swiftly and transparently. Public service is our top priority, regardless of the holiday,” Godam emphasized.

Services Available for Urgent Foreign Travel Needs

Immigration offices were officially closed for in-person services from March 27 to April 7, 2025, in observance of national holidays. However, limited emergency services remained available, including for foreign nationals who needed to travel urgently for medical treatment or due to a family emergency abroad.

“Emergency requests—such as urgent medical care or the death of a close relative overseas—were accommodated. Applicants were required to submit supporting documents,” added Godam.

Foreign nationals needing to renew residence permits were encouraged to use the online portal evisa.imigrasi.go.id to avoid overstaying their visas. Applications submitted during the holiday period were queued and processed as soon as services resumed on Tuesday.

All Systems Back to Normal

With full operations restored, foreign nationals in Indonesia can once again access in-person and online immigration services, including passport renewals, visa extensions, and stay permits. The Immigration Office assures that their commitment to efficient, fast, and transparent service remains unchanged—even around major national holidays.
