On its first day back in service, Sunday (March 30), the airport, located in Tuban, Kuta District, Badung Regency, was estimated to handle 73,000 passenger movements with 390 aircraft movements.

Entering H-3 of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is experiencing an increasing number of passengers. According to airport management records, Friday (March 28) marked the highest passenger movement day during this year’s Eid transportation period.

General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, revealed that on Friday (March 28), the number of passengers served reached 73,550 with a total of 420 flights. Of this figure, 31,080 passengers came from 207 domestic flights, while 42,470 were from 213 international flights.

Compared to the same period during Eid 2024, there was a 3 percent increase in passenger numbers from 71,500. However, aircraft movements decreased by 3 percent from 432 flights recorded on H-3 Eid last year. Despite this, Ahmad Syaugi observed a continuous upward trend in passenger traffic.

“Although compared to last year’s Eid, the growth has not been significant, if we look at the daily average passenger numbers in January and February 2025, the past three days have shown improvement,” he stated on Sunday (March 30).

Throughout January and February, the average daily passenger count at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was 61,759 with 388 aircraft movements. With the surge on H-3 Eid reaching 73,550 passengers and 420 flights, there was an increase of 19 percent and 10 percent, respectively, compared to the two-month average.
Despite the spike in passenger numbers and flight traffic, Ahmad Syaugi assured that operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport remained smooth. All service aspects, both within the airport and passenger connectivity to and from the airport, were well managed.

“This is thanks to the support of all relevant agencies involved in the Eid transportation post. Airport operations, especially during the peak homecoming period, have been running smoothly and under control,” he stated.

He added that this year’s peak homecoming density coincided with the Pengerepukan Ceremony, part of the Nyepi celebrations involving ogoh-ogoh parades and traffic diversions at several points, including around I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

“With the extended Eid holiday period, we will continue to strengthen coordination and enhance supervision to ensure the quality of service for passengers remains optimal. Besides the homecoming flow, the airport is also expected to remain busy with tourists heading to Bali for vacations,” he concluded. *ris
